Taapsee Pannu delivers a spectacular performance as a submissive and vulnerable wife whose life could have been poles apart if she chosen a different path.

Thappad’s strength also lies in its strong supporting cast. Ratna Pathak Shah and Kumud Mishra as Taapsee’s onscreen parents make you feel like your own.

Thappad is a simple story of an upper-middle-class couple based in Delhi. The wife is questioning if it is okay for her husband to slap her, even if it is a one-off case.

Once Taapsee is slapped by her husband out of frustration and it changes her entire perception towards the relation. While everyone

tries to convince her to move on since ‘these things happen’, she’s determined to stand against what she believes is wrong.

Overall, the trailer of 'Thappad' is hard hitting and punches you right in the gut.

Actress cum writer Seema Pahwa makes her directorial debut with Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. She manages to give a realistic portrayal of familial relationships in an Indian setting. However, her writing looks like a half hearted effort as this family drama is neither funny nor emotional enough to keep you engaged throughout. Only some of the exchanges between the daughters in law are crafted. Sagar Desai’s compositions and Neeraj Pandey’s lyrics, blend with the situations in the story and add meaning to the matter. Overall, the concept feels close to life, is relatable, too, but given its extremely slow pace, it ends up being a bit of a dreary watch.

Movie also has Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, Nasser, Dheena and others in crucial supporting roles. The film has beautiful music by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and is produced by Xavier Britto under the banner XB Film.

The film story like, an alcoholic professor has to go to a childish observation home to teach them good values and transform them. What he discovers there and how he solves the problem forms the rest of the area. now this is a film where you can not reveal even a small information about the story because it's filled with surprises throughout. A few of them turn out to be predictable but the way the film is presented very well.

In short, A college professor goes to a correctional facility for young criminals, and takes on the rowdy who is exploiting them to further his criminal empire.
